Account & Data Deletion
HomesInKorea members may delete their account at any time and request deletion of the personal information stored in it.
There are two ways to do this: delete your account directly in the app or on the web, or request deletion by email without installing the app.
1. Delete your account in the app or on the web
After signing in, follow the steps below to delete your account yourself.
Guest (members who book accommodation)
- Go to My in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap the profile area (photo / name) at the top of the screen to open Edit profile.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Edit profile screen and tap [Delete account].
- Answer the short exit survey, then tap [Delete account] to complete the deletion.
Host (members who list accommodation)
- Go to My from the profile menu at the top right or from the bottom navigation bar.
- Open the Edit profile screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Edit profile screen and tap [회원 탈퇴 / Delete account].
- Answer the short exit survey, then tap [회원 탈퇴 / Delete account] to complete the deletion.
When you request deletion, your account is suspended immediately and a 30-day grace period begins, provided for account recovery and misuse prevention. If you log in again within 30 days, you can restore your account. After 30 days, your account and personal information are automatically and permanently deleted and cannot be restored. All marketing communications (email, KakaoTalk, WhatsApp, app push) stop immediately upon the deletion request.
2. Request deletion without installing the app
If you have not installed the app, or you cannot sign in, you can still request account and data deletion by email.
- Customer support email:
help@homesinkor.com - We do not operate a separate customer support phone line; all requests are received and handled by email.
Please include the following in your email.
| Field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Subject | Account deletion request |
| Registered email | The email address you used to sign up for HomesInKorea |
| Name | The name registered on your account |
| Request | Whether you want your account deleted, or only specific data deleted |
We verify your identity after receiving the request and reply with the result.
3. When deletion cannot be completed
Your account cannot be deleted while any of the following remain, because a contract or a payout is still outstanding. Please request deletion again once the issue is resolved.
| Reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| You have an active contract | Your account can be deleted after the contract ends. |
| A settlement payout is pending (hosts) | Your account can be deleted after all settlements are completed. |
| You have unpaid charges | Your account can be deleted after all outstanding payments are settled. |
- Reservation requests that are still pending approval or pending payment are cancelled automatically when you delete your account, and the other party (host or guest) is notified of the cancellation. Cancelled requests are not revived even if you restore your account within 30 days.
4. Data that is deleted
Once the 30-day grace period after your deletion request has passed, the following data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. (During the grace period it is retained with restricted access, and is restored if you log in again within 30 days.)
| Category | Items deleted |
|---|---|
| Account information | Login account, email address, password |
| Profile information | Name, phone number, nationality, language, profile photo |
| Host information | Host name (nickname), host introduction, host type |
| Identity documents | Uploaded ID images such as passport or Alien Registration Card |
| Payout account details | Bank, account number, account holder name |
| Payment method | Stored card payment credentials (billing key) |
| Activity records | Wishlisted listings, recently viewed listings |
| Notifications | Notification history |
| Consent records | Terms and conditions consent records |
| Personal data in reservations | Guest details entered when booking (names, etc.) |
- Uploaded image files (profile photo, ID document) are deleted from file storage as well.
- During the 30-day grace period you cannot sign up again with the same email address; logging in restores your existing account instead.
- After permanent deletion you may sign up again with the same email address, but data from the previous account is not restored.
5. Data retained under Korean law
Under the Personal Information Protection Act and related laws, personal information is destroyed without delay once its purpose has been achieved. However, the records below must be retained by law. They are stored separately in a form that cannot identify you for the applicable period, and then destroyed.

| Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce | Records of payment and supply of goods | 5 years |

| Electronic Financial Transactions Act | Records of electronic financial transactions | 5 years |
| Protection of Communications Secrets Act | Access logs | 3 months |
- These records are not used for any purpose other than the one required by law.
- Once the retention period expires, electronic files are securely deleted so that they cannot be recovered, and paper documents are shredded or incinerated.
For details, see Article 3 (Retention & Use Period) and Article 7 (Destruction of Personal Information) of our Privacy Policy.
6. How long it takes
